SOROPTIMIST HISTORY
Soroptimist International is a worldwide organization for professional and business women who perform service projects to advance human rights and the status of women and girls. Founded in 1921, there are currently approximately 95, 000 members in over 120 countries/territories. The word “soroptimist” was derived from the Latin word soro meaning “sister” and optima meaning “best”. Over the years it has been interpreted to mean “Best for Women”: women at their best, working to help women become their best.

WHAT IS SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF RANCHO BERNARDO?
Soroptimist International of Rancho Bernardo (SIRB) is a vibrant, dynamic organization for women, committed to improving the lives of women and girls in our local communities and throughout the world. SIRB was chartered in 1977 and is part of Desert Coast Region, Soroptimist International of Americas, Inc; which is one of the four federations of Soroptimist International. 

Our members are working moms, single and retired women; small business owners and corporate executives; attorneys, teachers and physicians. We share our time, talents and financial resources by engaging in awareness, advocacy and action to enrich our community and make a difference in the lives of women and girls.
SIRB members work together, through fun and friendship, to:

  • Improve the lives of women and girls
  • Help women achieve economic and political equality
  • Serve as a global voice for women
  • Provide outstanding leadership development opportunities for women
  • Enhance world peace and understanding
​Meetings
​Meetings are typically held the second and third Wednesday of each month.

Noon – 1:30 p.m. at Carvers’ Steaks & Chops in Rancho Bernardo.

We do not hold any meetings in July or December.
